Google C.E.O. Sundar Pichai recently gave an extended interview about Artificial Intelligence (A.I.), expressing both optimism and worry about the state of the A.I. race. In his remarks, he declared that Google will “be bold” in its approach to A.I., and that it is preparing for this moment since early last year.

Pichai has been a strong advocate for A.I., and his comments come at a time when Google is facing criticism for its AI chatbot Bard and other new AI features in Search, such as generative AI capabilities that allow users to engage directly with the system.

The CEO is confident that Google will be able to make progress on these issues, but he also acknowledges the potential risks associated with A.I., such as privacy concerns and ethical implications of using algorithms to make decisions about people's lives. He believes that it is important to have conversations about these topics, so that we can ensure that A.I.'s potential benefits are realized while minimizing any potential harm or misuse of the technology.

Overall, Pichai's remarks reflect a commitment from Google to continue pushing forward on A.I., while being mindful of the ethical considerations involved in developing this technology responsibly and safely for all users around the world. It remains to be seen how successful they will be in achieving this goal, but it is clear that they are taking a proactive approach towards making sure their products are used responsibly and ethically by all users alike.
