It's official: the Moon is about to get a major upgrade! Nokia has announced plans to launch 4G internet on the Moon by the end of 2023. This will be a first-of-its-kind initiative, and it's sure to make lunar exploration much easier.
The network will be used within NASA's Artemis 1 mission, which will send the first woman and next man to the Moon in 2024. Astronauts will be able to use this internet network to communicate with their home base, and live video calling from the moon will also now be possible.
Nokia is working with autonomous spacecraft company Intuitive Machines, which is building a lunar lander that will transport 4G technology to the moon. The Finland-based telecommunications giant has been selected by NASA for this task due to its expertise in building reliable networks in extreme conditions.

This project is more than just a technological breakthrough; it also marks an important milestone in space exploration. High bandwidth, reliable connectivity and communications are essential for sustainable exploration on the Moon, and this 4G network could pave the way for further advances in space research.
We can't wait to see what other exciting developments come out of this project! Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to launch date later this year.
